How many treatment do I need until I see a result?
Great question! What are we treating? How are we treating? What are you doing at home to maintain these results? What is the current condition of your skin? How many treatments are you having? What are you using at home? Are you following all post & pre instructions from the Skin Coach?
The answer for how many treatments you will need will depend on you as an individual and what you are having done.
It is best to check with your skin coach around this some treatments take a series to see the correct results & others take one.
What is the difference between your products & others?
Where they penetrate & what they do!
When choosing the right skin care solution it is important to understand what your ultimate goal is. In the past skincare has been more about relaxation than skin correction simply because technology was not as advanced or results driven as it is now. Actives focused on hydration and nourishment and not skin function and cellular optimisation. As a result of international innovation and medical contribution our choices are many hence understanding the different categories of skincare is integral.
Cosmetics (what we don't stock! at the Skin Coaches)
This is the category that most of us know and use when we don’t know any better. Cosmetics are normally luxe (price ranges from $5.00 - $500+ a product), they feel beautiful (because they are laden with silicone), smell great (because they have added fragrance and colour) and have a hint of active ingredients (so that they can make claims of being much more than they could ever truly honour). These products are packaged in gorgeous bottles and jars and are more often than not endorsed by a paid five star celebrity (that we know can’t be using the brand if he or she looks as amazing as they do). These products are sold over the counter because they are safe. They are safe because there isn’t much of anything in them and nothing can go wrong. Beautiful to use but no skin benefit here. Oh and beware of these brands many use high levels of silica, mineral oil, petroleum, parabens, SLS …just to name a few.
Cosmeceuticals (What we don't stock! at the Skin Coaches)
“Cosmeceuticals refers to the combination of cosmetics and pharmaceuticals. Cosmeceuticals are cosmetic products with biologically active ingredients purporting to have medical or drug-like benefits. Dermatological research suggests that the bioactive ingredients used in cosmeceuticals have benefits beyond the traditional moisturizer…” So what we are hearing here is that unlike cosmetics that have insignificant levels of actives cosmeceuticals are the first category of skincare that can make a skin difference. Whilst they may look and feel like a cosmetic they tend to have the nasties removed (some better than others) and they use the right amount of active ingredients that can make a visible skin difference. Cosmeceutical treatments are indulgent and relaxing without compromising on results.
Cosmedics / Cosmedicals (What we stock!)
Cosmedics is the acknowledgement of medical science and its entry into skin treatment as recent as only the last couple of years. Through medical research scientists have discovered, developed and engineered active ingredients, peptides and antioxidants that have the ability to retain and regain normal skin function and cell optimization.
Furthermore the discovery of biomimetic bases and peptides as well as the encapsulation of active ingredients ensures optimum delivery of these ingredients at cellular level. Cosmedics isn’t skincare rather skin medicine. Unlike cosmetics, cosmedics requires a skin expert to tailor a personal skin health prescription for every skin, this will ensure the skin has a chance to acclimatize to the actives and avoid sensitisation.
Cosmedics may cause visible responses in the skin all part and parcel of an “active” medical grade action. Cosmeceutical and Cosmedics have been developed to combat the five major causes of aging. Without an active approach these five causes and their domino effect would be left untreated and ultimately lead to deterioration of skin health, ultimately resulting in compromised skin function, cellular activity and visible aging.

DMK

Each product is designed to work with specific internal functions of the skin by matching the body’s chemistry to work effectively in tangent with DMK professional treatments.
I see that you have the DMK Enzyme Treatment, I have seen some other ones that look similar, what is the difference?
Imagine looking down through the top of the skin, think of the inside of the skin like a factory, the product that factory produces is the skin you see on the surface. DMKs signature Enzyme Therapy treatments works to revise the skin to be functioning like a young healthy skin would.
Over 40 years has been spent perfecting DMK’s signature Enzyme Therapy treatments, utilising the beneficial effects of transfer messenger enzymes. Formulated to be the basis of all DMK Skin Revision treatments to enhance optimal skin function, Enzyme Therapy works to create long-lasting results.
Experience the difference. When you have a DMK treatment the DMK Skin Revision Technician will discover your main concerns, thoroughly assess the skin from a functional and structural perspective and tailor a bespoke treatment, combining various DMK formulations, followed by our signature Enzyme Therapy Masque. Not your ordinary facial, we make a difference by doing things differently.
What is the best treatment for red skin?
There are many reasons for redness in the skin externally & internally (inflammation, impaired barriers & dehydration)- so we always like to work out the 'core root' of how to correct & calm the redness & work on correcting the 'dysfunction' of your skin for optimal results.
Each person is going to get different results depending on their skin condition. We recommend mixed modalities that are tailored to you & your skin with at home care prescriptive from your Skin Coach, internal gut (hormonal) health addressed & in clinic treatments. We can give you a clear guideline of these at a Skin Coaches Consult. Book a Skin Consult HERE.
Some of our most popular treatments for Redness are Enzymes & LED to begin with. See more here.
My skin has been so dry, what should I do?
This is so normal, different external & internal factors will influence this including the drier climate, water & harsh free radicals & at the Skin Coaches - we are you experts in this.
We recommend booking in for a Skin Coaches Consult HERE we will assist you in everything you need to know!
Do I need to wash my face before my facial appointments?
Nope! We will take care of you! You don't need to do anything, we will always cleanse your skin.
Will my skin peel & flake after my facial?
Not always no - some of our treatments may, however your skin coach will always consult you before performing any treatments that may do so. This can also vary depending on the current condition of your skin.
Will my skin be really red after my facial?
Some of our treatments such as Microneedling & sometimes Enzyme therapy may appear slightly red or pink due to the treatment and increased bloody & oxygen to the skin often this can last anywhere between 20min to 30min. If you are concerned about your skin appearing red or have somewhere to be after your facial please advise your skin coach and they can apply mineral make up. But generally, with most of our skin treatments your skin will appear glowy, clean, fresh and bright!
But once again your Skin Coach will always consult you before performing any treatments that may do so. This can also vary depending on the current condition of your skin.
What do I need to do after my facial?
Nothing! We always want you to leave feeling refreshed, renewed, cleansed and relaxed! All of the facials finish with our specialty 'transdermal infusion' which is a number of different serums, ingredients and products infused into the skin which is best left for a minimum of 6-8 hours for the best result. Because of the transdermal infusion we recommend no exercising or swimming etc afterwards until the next day and just enjoying your new, fresh, healthy skin. For all of our treatments, we also recommend no exfoliating or use of Vitamin A products for at least 4 days afterwards and to ensure you are being consistent with your regular products and SPF the next day.
I have an event on this weekend will my skin look ok after my facial? I am just a bit worried.
Absolutely it will look ok! As mentioned above most of our facials have minimal downtime and more often than not, you will go to your event on the weekend looking fresh, bright and renewed. You will find your skin will look hydrated and your make up etc. will sit and look a lot better. However, always advise your skin coach if you have an important event on before your treatment - to ensure they can give you that extra WOW if necessary.
Does the facials hurt?
At the Skin Coaches, our facials are meant to be enjoyable, beneficial and relaxing. However, sometimes treatments such as Micro needling can be uncomfortable. Or some treatments that may involve AHA's or specialty ingredients can tingle, itch or give you a slight 'peppery hot' sensation - however your skin coach will always advise you if this is the case and be there for the process and these sensations only last about 2-5 minutes.
OUR TOP 10 SKIN TIPS . .
1. Have a Skin Consult with your Skin Coaches so you know what 'type of condition' your skin is, so you stop wasting $$ on your skin
2. Use quality products! (DMK & OCosmedics)
3. Be consistent with your products! 70% of your skin result is based of your homecare
4. Take EFA's (Essentail Fatty Acids) -for internal support of the skin
5. Drink loads of water on the daily!
6. Use SPF (even if you don't go in the sun, it's the incidental sun exposure + the UV Rays of our phones and computer screens just to name a few that will still damage your skin without the SPF protection)
7. Wash your FACE before going to bed and DO NOT USE WIPES TO GET YOUR MAKE UP OFF!
8. Use quality Mineral Make Up - like FACEBYR because after all it sits on your skin for long periods of time & is a step of your skin care routine and needs to support the skin.
9. Have quality skin salon treatments of course
10. Take care of your GUT health!
(We can help coach you on all of the above!)
